To-do: Monday 10/12

The first day of the work week isn’t known for being a popular live music night, at least not in Fayetteville. But for the third straight month, there’s a Monday night show that will more than likely bring out a solid crowd of fans.

In August, it was Peter Frampton, Last month, it was Silversun Pickups. And tonight, it’s Brandi Carlile at George’s Majestic Lounge.

Carlile, who seemingly came out of nowhere a few years ago, is a breath of fresh air in the world of slick-produced, popular singer/songwriters. After being labeled one of Rolling Stone’s “10 Artists to Watch” in 2005, Carlile’s second album was produced by T-Bone Burnett which seems to have paved the way for plenty of more collaborations with famous musicians.

According to Billboard.com, Carlile’s third studio album features Elton John, The Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray (also appearing tonight), Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Benmont Tench of Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers.

Tickets are still available at georgesmajesticlounge.com.
