To-do: Monday 10/19

  • By Todd Gill · Monday, Oct 19, 2009

The normal list of live music events is pretty slim for today. But there’s still plenty to do.

Green Drinks is meeting at Smiling Jack’s from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. They’ll be hosting some folks from the Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association who have been working on several maps which describe the various ecosystems, land types, and watershed areas in Washington County. The maps, which will be available to view and discuss at tonight’s meeting were created to help understand the karst areas in the County. Anyone interested in learning more about how to help protect natural resources in Fayetteville and Washington County is welcome to stop by.

Also tonight is the Clubhaus Fitness Grand Opening Party on Dickson Street. Complimentary beer will be served from Hog Haus Brewery, there’ll be live music from DJ Greg, and giveaways from downtown businesses including: gift cards from Common Grounds, Hog Haus and Pink Papaya; tickets from Walton Arts Center; a free Clubhaus Fitness membership for an entire year. Members and non-members are welcome.

The Fulbright college department of music will feature University of Arkansas trombone professor Gerald Sloan in concert tonight at 7:30 pm in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. Sloan will be performing works by Camille Saint-Saens, Carl Maria von Weber, Paul Hindemith, J.S. Bach, Arthur Pryor, James Greeson, and Charlies E. Ives.

Free parking is available in the parking deck, which can be accessed from Stadium Drive and is located directly to the west of the Fine Arts Building. Admission is free.
