Hogs lose to Baylor 70-47

  • By Dustin Bartholomew · Thursday, Dec 31, 2009

Arkansas’ 5 game winning streak came to a close last night, as the Baylor Bears beat the Hogs 70-47 at Alltel Arena in Little Rock.

Marshawn Powell led the Hogs with 14 points, Rotnei Clarke added 13 points, and Jemal Farmer scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the losing effort.

The Hogs, playing without injured forwards Michael Washington and Michael Sanchez, hung with the Bears in the first half. After falling behind early, Arkansas battled back on the outside scoring Rotnei Clarke to trail by only 3 points at the half, 34-31.

The Bears shut down Clarke in the second half though, and even with Michael Washington entering the game in the second half despite an injured back, Arkansas couldn’t get anything going offensively in the final 20 minutes. Arkansas shot just 21.2% in the second half, while the Bears shot a steady 45.6% for the game.

The loss drops Arkansas to 7-6 on the season, while the Bears improved to 10-1.

Next up, UAB comes to town on Saturday for an 11:00 am matchup at Bud Walton Arena. The game will be televised by RSN.
