Tuesday To-do: Feb. 9

For anyone who’s not planning on watching the local school closings like a hawk tonight, there are a few options to keep your mind off the snow.

For example, the latest Ozark Poetry Slam sounds interesting. Entitled “Sexy Slam,” this month’s open mic and competition features Fayetteville poet Clayton Scott and promises “uncensored” fun and “sexy prizes” for all ages. Is that even possible? We assume that just means you don’t have to be 21 to participate.

Since Smilin’ Jacks has moved on, the slam has found a new home in Opal Fly’s Feelgood Lounge on Center St. “Many of the Ozark Poetry Slam members are kind of looking at this as a new beginning for the slam,” says coordinator Michelle Miesse.

$5 gets you in the door and according to Miesse, Condom Sense and Planned Parenthood have both donated condoms to hand out to those in attendance.

On Dickson Street, George’s has a four-band show with Fade 2 Fall, Open Addiction, SignumAD and LifeLike.

In other to-do news, there’s a Jenga tournament at Smoke & Barrel, live jazz at Scarpino’s and Jeff Fox is at JJ’s.
