Giveaway: Ladysmith Black Mambazo

  • By Dustin Bartholomew · Monday, Feb 15, 2010

This giveaway is now closed. Winners were announced here.

It’s been a cold winter. In fact, we’ve seen more snow this winter than we’ve seen in Fayetteville in a really long time.

It’s also Monday, and a combination of that fact and all the cold weather we’ve been experiencing has got us seriously jonesing for the warmer days ahead.

We can’t really do anything about the weather. And we can’t do anything about the fact that it’s Monday. What we can do, though, is give away some tickets to a show at the Walton Arts Center on Saturday that will at least make it seem a little warmer around this place.

African choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo is coming to town on Saturday. They’ve been around for 40 years, have been nominated for 15 Grammys, and have won three of them.

They’ve recorded with Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Dolly Parton, Melissa Etheridge, Sarah McLachlan, Josh Groban, and with Paul Simon on his Graceland record.

I was in a pretty bad mood this morning until I watched the video below. I feel a little warmer already.

How to enter
Ladysmith Black Mambazo has been around for a long time, but they got super famous when they recorded with Simon on Graceland in 1986.

To enter, leave a comment with the name of your favorite Paul Simon song, and you’re entered. If you don’t like any Paul Simon songs, but you’d still like to see Ladysmith Black Mambazo, just say so and you’re entered. We’ll choose a random winner from the comments.

What you’ll win
Two (2) lucky winners will receive two tickets (1 pair) to the Saturday, Feb. 20 performance of Ladysmith Black Mambazo at Walton Arts Center.

The rules

  • You only may enter this specific giveaway once.
  • This giveaway is open to anyone anywhere except staff of Fayetteville Flyer or Walton Arts Center
  • The giveaway is open until 5:00 p.m. CST on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2010 and the random winner will be contacted shortly afterwards. Make sure you leave a valid email address when filling out the comment form since that’s how we’ll contact you if you’ve won.
  • You’ll have to provide us with your first and last name (if you win) and then be prepared to show a valid photo ID when picking up your tickets.

To purchase tickets and for more information on this performance, visit waltonartscenter.org
