George’s Majestic Lounge nominated for ACM Award

The Academy of Country Music announced the nominees for its annual music awards today, and a venue from right here in Fayetteville is on the list.

Out of all the bars in the country, George’s Majestic Lounge is one of only five nominated in the Night Club of the Year category by the professional membership of the Academy of Country Music.

Here’s the criteria for the category, from the ACM website:

This award is presented to an outstanding country music nightclub, selected by a panel of Blue Ribbon Judges. The panel will submit 5 (five) nominees, which will be placed on the ballot once approved by the Board. The nightclub must have bought or promoted at least 10 (ten) country concerts/dates during the prior calendar year of January 1st to December 31st, be in good standing with all agents and help promote country ticket sales. The winner from the previous year is ineligible for a consecutive nomination in this category.

The winner in the Nightclub of the Year category, as well as the rest of the non-televised awards will be announced later this month.

Other nominees include:

  • Billy Bob’s Texas – Ft. Worth, TX
  • Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace – Bakersfield, CA
  • Cotton Eyed Joe – Knoxville, TN
  • Wild Bill’s – Duluth, GA

Who cares about all those other venues? Go George’s.
