Seedling Film Association to hold first meeting March 17

Wanna make a movie? Wanna be in a movie? Wanna just watch some movies?

Some of the folks behind the 540 Film Festival have formed a new non-profit that they hope will help foster the continued growth of the local independent film scene in Northwest Arkansas by helping connect some of the locals interested in the art of filmmaking.

It’s called the Seedling Film Association, and they will hold their first public meeting this Wednesday, March 17 at the UARK Bowl & Ballroom on Dickson St.

“Our goal is to meet regularly to give filmmakers networking opportunities as well as give the public a cultural alternative to the commercial film experience,” said Cassie Self, one of the folks behind the new organization.

The first meeting will also include a costume contest, a montage of clips from the cult classic horror flick “Leprechaun,” and a discussion on the organization’s plans for a music video competition in May.

Doors open at 6:30 and the costume contest and other festivities begin at 7:00.
