Weekend To-do: April 2-4

If you had a crappy week at work, now is the time to forget about it. Put it behind you. Shrug it off. Seriously.

We’ve got sunny, 70-degree weather for most of the weekend. The Farmers’ Market kicks off their 2010 season on the square tomorrow. Flowers and trees are blooming all over the place. The grass is turning green again.

There’s art, music, theater, sports, dance parties and patio chilling. There’s even church, if that’s your thing.

In other words, it’s gonna be another one of those weekends in town where if you can’t find something that you like to do in Fayetteville, you are either 1. Someone who hates fun, 2. A jerk, or 3. A deviled egg (You’re screwed, buddy.)

Want art? There’s an artist reception at Ultra Studios Friday night featuring paintings by Nanci Ballew. That starts at 6 p.m.

Want sports? The Razorback baseball team opens a three-game series with Kentucky at Baum Stadium Friday night at 6:30 p.m. The fun is in the outfield.

How about some theatre? South Pacific is still at Walton Arts Center, TheatreSquared’s Maritius is at Nadine Baum Studios, or you could check out Phunbags comedy improv at UARK Bowl. All three have shows on Saturday, too.

You’d rather check out some tunes? OK. George’s has the Nace Brothers for happy hour, and Boom Kinetic late night.

Smoke & Barrel has M.S.G. (that stands for Matt Smith Group), featuring Reggae singer extraordinaire Rochelle Bradshaw. It’s definitely Reggae weather out there.

Also tonight, KXUA turns 10 years old. There’s a big party at Rogue to celebrate, with KXUA DJ’s, Plaid Jackets and DJ Derrick providing the tunes.

Saturday, the Farmers’ Market returns to the Fayetteville Square. Everyone and their dog is gonna be there.

Saturday night is looking pretty good tunes-wise, too.

There’s a big old DJ battle to the death at Scarpino’s Saturday night. JayKay, Havok, Jason Dub, Medizen, Zac Slade, Fractal Sky, DJ Joely, Tormeant, Kevin Gunn will battle it out for a change to play Wakarusa this summer, and DJ Roots, from Boulder, CO will finish out the night.

Also Saturday, Baby Armie, Rev. Stiles, and Vivek will be spinning Bollywood-themed tunes at the encore Bombay Brouhaha dance party at Speakeasy.

Texas singer/songwriter Charlie Robison is at George’s Saturday. His song “Good Times” was featured in True Blood. He used to be married to a Dixie Chick. He’s famous.

Jed Clampit is back in town for a show at Greenhouse Grille, The Flippoff Pirates are at Rogue, and Charliehorse will be at Smoke & Barrel.

Sunday is Easter, which means some combination of egg coloring, egg hiding and finding, giant rabbit suits, brunch, church, and/or mimosas, depending on who you ask.

Greenhouse Grill has two shows on Sunday with Pat Pathoumthong for brunch, and Matt Smith during their special Easter dinner at 6 p.m.

George’s has Isayah’s Allstars for Monster Mug Night. It’s free.

There’s a lot more below, and as always, feel free to add anything we missed in the comments. What are you guys doing this weekend?
