Town hall meeting set for Monday, May 3

The Jordan administration is quickly becoming known for its city-wide town hall meetings.

If you think you might be up for it, mark your calendars for Monday, May 3, from 7-8:30 p.m. because that’s when Mayor Jordan and crew will be at it again.

Each meeting is scheduled in a different ward throughout the year, and this time Ward 1 is the lucky locale. The gym of Ridgeview Baptist Church, located at 1850 East Huntsville Road, is where the party’s at.

Just what kind of stuff is discussed at these things? Here’s a recap from the last one.

As always, Mayor Lioneld Jordan will be joined by several city department heads who will be on hand to address citizen questions. Presentations will be made at the beginning of the meeting by finance director Paul Becker, who will provide a city budget update and a review of the HMR (Hotel, Motel, and Restaurant) tax; parks and rec director Connie Edmonston, who will discuss upcoming park programs; Sharon Crosson and Terry Gulley, who will provide an overview of the parking proposals for the Dickson Street area; and sustainability director John Coleman, who will discuss the Eco-Logical Fayetteville program.

As provided in each town hall meeting, the last 30 minutes will be devoted to questions from the audience.
