Weekend To-Do: May 7-9

This weekend, let’s start with what not to do.

Don’t wear white until after Memorial day. Don’t wear sunglasses indoors. Don’t move to Springdale. Don’t cut your balls off.

Don’t trip over your dog. Don’t make out with your grandmother. Don’t throw knives at your sister. Don’t set yourself on fire. Try not to steal a police car. Don’t drink and drive. Don’t do meth. Don’t rupture your achilles tendon.

Don’t go ice fishing at Beaver Dam. Don’t order a hamburger at a Mexican restaurant. Don’t pee on your shoes. Don’t pee on my shoes, and please, don’t run over my mailbox.

I think that covers it. Everything else is fair game.

Friday night, the guys behind Bombay Brouhaha 1, and Bombay Brouhaha 2 are back for the 3rd installment, entitled Bombay Brouhaha 3 at Speakeasy. Rev. Stiles and DJ Sai will be spinning the best in Bollywood, Bhangra and South Indian tunes, and the first 30 people get in free.

Andy Frasco is back in town, and you can catch him at Smoke and Barrel on Friday, Rogue on Saturday, or George’s on Sunday.

Shawn Eckles of Speakeasy is at Greenhouse Grille for an early show at 6:30.

If you like musicals, there are a couple chances to catch Grease at the Walton Arts Center this weekend, starring Taylor Hicks (the guy who won American Idol in 2006.)

On Saturday, please, mow your lawn. It’s looking ridiculous.

Later on, did you like First Thursday? Wanna see some more art? There’s an art show at Ultra Studios called Night Swimming, featuring work by Nathan Beatty and Debi Grimm starting at 5 p.m.

Free Sol is at George’s Saturday night. They’re a hip-hop/soul band from Memphis, and they recently signed to Justin Timberlake’s label.

If you missed Harmonious Wail at First Thursday last night, you could check them out at the Goodfolk house. Sidenote, their website is wail.com. That’s legit.

The Joe Martin Stage Race is in town, so add “don’t run over a cyclist” to the list of don’ts above, and do at least watch the criterion on Sunday. More info about “The Joe” is here.

Also, hug your mom on Sunday if you can.
