Beer garden to debut at First Thursday in June

  • By Dustin Bartholomew · Tuesday, May 25, 2010

The ever-expanding First Thursday event on the square will add a new dimension next month: the dimension of beer.

According to event organizer Brian Bailey of the Visitors Bureau, a beer garden will be set up for the June 3 First Thursday event.

“It will be in the nook on the east side of the courtyard in front of the Town Center,” Bailey said. “It’s basically already closed in.”

Tables and chairs from the Town Center will be utilized in the space, and the garden will be open during the live music portion of the event from 5-8 p.m. Singer/songwriter Tiffany Christopher is scheduled to perform in June.

The proceeds from the beer garden will be donated to a different charity each month. In June, the Fayetteville Animal Shelter will get the proceeds. Bailey said he is working on finalizing charities for the July and August First Thursday events.

The Animal Shelter will also have a booth set up to accept donations of food, paper towels, hand sanitizer, bleach, towels, detergent, toys, and other items needed at the shelter.

We’ll have our regular Flyer Guide up before the June 3 event with the rest of the First Thursday information, but for now, beer? (Yes.)
