Hogs beat Washington State 7-2, advance to Super Regional

The baseball Razorbacks took a big step in the direction of Omaha, Nebraska Monday night.

To get there, though, they have to go through Tempe, Arizona first.

Arkansas beat Washington State 7-2 Monday night in an elimination game to win the Fayetteville regional, and advance to a Super Regional matchup versus Arizona State next weekend.

TJ Forrest pitched 5 1/3 tough innings on just two days rest to help the Hogs advance, and timely hits by the Hogs including the first career home run by freshman Derrick Bleeker propelled Arkansas to victory.

Arkansas will travel to Tempe to take on Pac-10 champion Arizona State, where the Hogs will have to take two of three from the top-seeded Sun Devils for a chance to return to the College World Series in Omaha.

The first game of the Super Regional is scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m., and will be televised by ESPNU.
