Fayetteville Animal Services collect yarn bomb materials

It would appear that the maniacal plan to provide soft, woolen surfaces for the comfort of homeless animals, hatched by the folks in the Fayetteville knitting community, has worked as planned.

We spotted an officer for Fayetteville Animal Services collecting the knitted materials placed around the downtown square this afternoon.

“We’ll probably use these in the cat beds,” he said. “It was really nice of them to make these for the animals.”

The knitted squares went up on light poles around the square a week ago just in time for First Thursday, and were created by a number of folks including Fayetteville Stitch & Bitch.

The rogue knitters installed the colorful knitted squares with the intention that they would eventually end up as beds for animals at the shelter. Mission accomplished.
