City doubles length of two remaining paid parking meetings

Due to an overwhelming turnout for the first of three informational meetings on paid parking in the Entertainment District, the Parking and Transportation Department has doubled the length of the two remaining meetings.

Both meetings will begin at 4 p.m. and last until 6 p.m. Tonight’s (Aug. 5) public meeting will be held in City Hall room 219, and the August 12 meeting will be held in the Fayetteville Library’s Walker Room.

There were plenty of questions asked at last week’s meeting and most of them were related to residential and employee parking details.

Employees will receive a discount when parking on the streets, excluding Dickson St. and Watson St. Residents in the area will receive free parking for their own vehicles, and will choose from a couple of guest pass options.

Of course, none of this is automatic and will require folks to sign up for discounts and passes. If you live or work in the area, we’d strongly suggest that you attend one of the final two meetings before you wake up or walk to your vehicle on Aug. 16 to find a ticket on your windshield.
