Tuesday To-Do: Aug. 31

Another Tuesday. Another handful of news bits from around the country.

This first one comes with a gross-out warning. Only click here if you’re really, really, really interested in why those 500 million eggs were recalled over the last month. Otherwise, move on.

This one comes with a pre-question. I never thought I’d ask this, but does anyone still buy iPods? As in, just a plain ole iPod without a phone inside it? Apple is expected to unveil new iPods tomorrow. What will the hot new feature be? Time travel?

File this one under WTF? (What the Face?) while you can. Facebook is trying to trademark the word “face.” No, seriously.

OK, this one’s just silly. It’s a YouTube video, so put on your headphones and make sure your boss isn’t around. Actually, it only starts off silly. It’ll end with your jaw on your desk. Swallow that coffee and behold: Dancing Merengue Dog.

Today

The Washington County Fair is in town and beginning at 10 a.m. today, the gates will officially open. If it’s rides you’re looking for, though, better wait until this evening. The carnival doesn’t start until 5 p.m. Check out the full schedule here, and make sure to note that today is $1 admission day.

For a couple of weeks, we’ve had Daikaiju on the Smoke & Barrel Tavern calendar for tonight, but we fear there might be some kind of mixup. The band says it’s playing in Lawrence, KS this evening as do about a half dozen other websites. We’ll find out for sure and let you know here later today. It’s cancelled.

Also on the list is Effron White at Herman’s, live jazz at Teatro Scarpino, and Jeff Fox at JJ’s.
