Monday To-do: Sept. 20

This weekend’s going to be hhuge, Fayetteville. Huge with two h’s, that is. One for ‘huge’ and the other for ‘holy crap.’

Whether you’re a sports fan or not, this weekend’s Razorback football game will have some kind of impact on your weekend as the town will be crazy full of Hog fans. And seeing as those fans will be coming off an emotional high after Arkansas won a couple of days ago, they’ll also be a little crazy. So it’ll be crazy full of crazy fans.

For you fair weather fans, here’s all you need to know to hold a conversation in the break room today. 1) Arkansas won on the road Saturday against Georgia, 2) it earned them a #10 ranking, and 3) they’re playing Alabama who is ranked #1.

Get ready.

Today

It’s Monday, which usually means things are kinda slow out there, but today has a few more options than normal.

For starters, as of 8 a.m. this morning, there are still some standing-room-only seats available for tonight’s Lucinda Williams show at George’s Majestic Lounge. Sarah Hughes plays the after party. (UPDATE: Lucinda’s show is now sold out)

Rivka and Mike iLL bring their electro/pop/hip-hop (and kinda folky sometimes) Mad haPPy show to town this evening at Maxine’s. Curious? Head over to their MySpace page and have a listen.

Elsewhere, Powerhouse has Jon Shorter, JJ’s has Tommy Nolen, Pesto Cafe has Darren Ray, and there’s an open acoustic jam at The Perk.

* We’re pretty sure the Mobile Deathcamp / Burnt By Design show at Drifter’s has been cancelled. Sorry.
