Monday To-do: Sept. 27

Well the Razorbacks didn’t win Saturday, but you don’t need us to tell you that.

An immediate deflation of excitement swept across the entire city as soon as Ryan Mallett’s final pass landed in the hands of an Alabama cornerback with 1:48 left to play.

Honestly, though, as horrible as the Hogs played in the second half, they scared the bejebus out of #1 Alabama which is nothing to complain about.

If nothing else, most of the nation’s sports fans’ eyes were on Fayetteville for a good three hours this weekend and for half of that time, they were thinking, “Wow.”

Another semi-silver lining is that that our city’s sales tax numbers were likely through the roof this past weekend. Couple that with the BBBQ crowd that’s headed our way, and we should feel a bit of relief come next month.

Today

There’s not usually much happening on a Monday in Fayetteville, but if you’re in the mood for something free and you’d like to get out one last time before the bikes come rolling in, there’s a University Programs-sponsored concert tonight at the Greek Theater.

The “doors” open at 8 p.m. DJ Jason Smith performs at 9 p.m., Gilbere Forte is after that at around 9:30 p.m., and the headliners, Shwayze, begin at 10 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
