Wednesday To-do: Sept. 29

Can you believe it’s already time once again for Bikes, Blues & BBQ? Is it really the end of September 2010? Wow. Who cut out the middle of the last 12 months?

Love ’em or hate ’em, the bikes are here, folks. And by “here” I mean “if you think this is big, just you wait and see, buddy.” If you’re a local, then you already know, but if this is your first year to witness BBBQ, brace yourself.

It’s gonna be a long (and loud) few days.

Today

Wanna randomly help somebody out? Head over to the square on your lunch hour and donate some blood. The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks’s mobile unit will be there from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. today. To help cut down on the wait, call 575-8333 to make an appointment. Or just walk in. They won’t turn you away.

On the BBBQ front, things officially get started at 3 p.m. when the beer gardens open in the WAC parking lot and out at Baum Stadium. If you just can’t wait, go test drive a motorcycle at Baum. We hear they’re getting the demos started early today. Music at both locations begins at 5 p.m. (see calendar list below).

Other music options tonight include Shawn Porter at Greenhouse Grille, Sarah Hughes at the Garden Room, Citizen Cope at George’s, and Mo Brothers at JJ’s.

Rather dance? Check out FIX on Dickson. Scheduled tonight is D*FRESH along with residents EQ and Shortfuze.

No music? No problem. Show off your digi-bowling skillz at Smoke & Barrel during another Urban Achievers Wii Bowling League Night, or head to the Fayetteville Public Library at 6:30 p.m. for a free presentation called Why Birds Matter: From the Gulf of Mexico to the Arkansas Delta.
