Fire truck involved in Monday morning accident

A Fayetteville fire truck was involved in a traffic accident with a private vehicle at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Sang Garland Avenue Monday morning.

According to a news release, the accident occurred while emergency crews were responding to a separate motor vehicle accident that included reports of people being trapped inside a vehicle. Additional units were dispatched to both accidents.

Police said two people were in the private vehicle, a driver and a small child. The fire truck had four emergency crew on board. The child and three firefighters were transported to Washington Regional Medical Center where they were treated and released.

The accident is being investigated by Fayetteville Police Department.
