Wilson Park trail renovation and lighting project underway

Walkers, joggers, skippers, hoppers, sprinters, and even crawlers who frequent the Wilson Park trail can expect minor detours over the next few weeks.

Construction is underway on the trail renovation and lighting project which includes a complete replacement of the existing 6-foot wide asphalt park trail and the addition of a Light Emitting Diode (LED) trail lighting system.

The first section of new trail, located west of the castle, has been completed and is open to the public. Construction of the second phase began this week in the southeast corner of the park, near the swimming pool parking lot.

City officials said in a news release that the safety of the public during the construction of the project is of the utmost importance. Orange construction fencing, barricades and signs will be used to direct park and trail users around the construction areas.
