Weekend To-do: Oct. 15-17

The next three days have the potential to be the best weekend of your life, depending on what happens.

The weather is looking perfect. There’s a home brew competition in town. There is a ton of good live music, some awesome charitable events, food cook-offs, brat eating competitions, stein hoisting competitions, pig racing, and there’s a giant music festival about 45 minutes away.

The Razorbacks are going to beat Auburn. At least three of you are going to find $20 in your coat pocket from last year that you forgot about. Several of you are going to “get lucky.”

I’m no psychic or anything, but I have a really good feeling about this weekend. Go with it.

Friday

The Yonder Mountain Harvest Music Festival is in full effect on Mulberry Mountain all weekend, but you already knew that. Here’s the schedule, and to keep up with the action on the mountain, follow DGold and NWAWhatsUp on Twitter. Or, go down there and see for yourself. That’s an option, too.

Grown folks night at Smoke & Barrel is apparently going to be epic Friday night. We know that Epiphany & Gina Gee are up from Little Rock (which already makes for a really awesome show) and we also know that S&B co-owner Evan is freaking out about a special guest that is going to make an appearance as well. Try to guess who it is.

Saturday

How about some pig races, brat eating competitions, free live music, and a home brew tasting? The 2nd annual Dickson Street Oktoberfest is happening in the WAC parking lot from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Saturday. Most of it is free. Here’s the schedule. Yes.

There is a mini-golf tourney at Gator Golf on Saturday. Golftoberfest kicks off at 10 a.m., and all the money raised benefits Single Parent Scholarship Fund.

There is a big old tailgate party at the Botanical Garden. The first annual Washington County Bar & Grill features teams of lawyers competing in an amateur cook-off. Admission is $20, and you can sample items entered into the Best Ribs, Best Brisket, Best Pulled Pork and Best Chicken Thighs competitions. The Arkansas / Auburn game will also be shown.

The Hogs take on the lame-o War Eagle Tigers (whatever) at 2:30 p.m. The game will be televised by CBS.

You could stop by the Starlight Skatium for Strut For A Mutt if you want. Sarah Colonna will host the show and perform some stand-up, DJ’s Pretty Paul and Shortfuze will provide the tunes, and there’s a fashion show. All the money raised goes to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter and Spay Arkansas.

Rockwise, Miniature Colossal Men, A+ Setup, Hosta and Taifas are at Smoke & Barrel, and Benjamin Del Shreve and Silverstone are at George’s.

Sunday

Audible Chocolate has another new home. This week, the show will be at Whole Earth Organic Lounge with DJ Shortfuze along with resident DJ’s Ultrasonic Nozzle and the Erratic Ninja.

Cletus Got Shot is playing a rare Sunday night show at Smoke & Barrel, and Cadillac Jackson is at George’s for Monster Mug Night.

There’s a ton more below, feel free to add anything we missed in the comments, and feel free to have the best weekend of your life if you can. Party.
