Art Amiss 13 now accepting submissions

Art Amiss 13 is coming up on November 10 at the Dickson Theater, which means that if you’re hoping to have some work featured in the show this time around, you’d better get busy.

The deadline for entries for the Art Amiss 13 literary magazine is Monday, Nov. 1, and the deadline for art submissions is Friday, Nov. 5.

For those who aren’t familiar with Art Amiss, it is a community-based, multimedia art collective showcasing the talents of artists living and working in Arkansas. There are two shows a year featuring some of the best two- and three-dimensional visual art, film, fashion, literature, and music Arkansas has to offer. Also, it’s kind of a party.

Literary Magazine Submissions

Art Amiss is looking to publish fiction (excerpts from novels as well as short stories), creative non-fiction, poetry, literary translations, short plays and screenplays, and hybrids that combine writing with another art form in this issue. They are also accepting artwork for the cover and inside of the magazine.

There is no entry fee and no limit on the number of pieces submitted. Authors need to have a connection to the state such as being an Arkansas native or a current or former resident. The editors may ask for proof (unpaid bar tabs from local establishments, love notes on Mountain Inn stationery, pictures taken at Monte Ne or Devil’s Den, etc.)

To submit, email your work to [email protected]. Translation submissions should include a scanned or typed copy of the original.

Authors will be notified of acceptance within a week after the November 1 submission deadline.

Artwork Submissions

Art Amiss is accepting submissions for 2-D and 3-D artwork. Artists may submit up to eight works for consideration in the show, and the full guidelines are available at artamiss.org.
