Wilson Park Trail renovation work continues

Those who frequent the Wilson Park trail are still dealing with minor detours as work continues on the renovation and lighting project which began a few weeks ago.

Parking access will be closed in the lots just west of the castle and north of the swimming pool beginning at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9. City officials said the closure is necessary to facilitate the demolition of the existing entry drive and construction of a new raised, colored crosswalk.

Access to the parking lots is anticipated to be reopened Friday afternoon. Parking will still be available in the remaining three parking lots located within the park during the week.

The project, which is part of the 2010 Capitol Improvement Plan, includes a complete replacement of the existing 6-foot wide asphalt park trail and the addition of a Light Emitting Diode (LED) trail lighting system.
