Art Amiss music compilation features 13 Arkansas artists

When you were a kid, did you ever mix yourself a suicide fountain drink?

If you’re not familiar, that’s when you mix all of the sodas (Even the diet soda. Gross) available at any given fountain drink station into one mish-mashed super-drink. We called them suicides. They were delicious.

The folks at Art Amiss have accomplished a similarly-delicious creation by mixing up 13 songs by 13 badical Arkansas artists for the Art Amiss 13 compilation that you can get your hands on later tonight.

Instead of a mixture of Dr. Pepper, Coke, Sprite, Grape Soda, Hi-C, and Root Beer, though, you’ll find a bit of indie, hip-hop, blues, singer-songwriter, blues, and jazz on the compilation.

500 of the CD’s have been produced, and local artist Sarah Anderson contributed the album artwork.

There are basically two ways to get one of these babies. The first 200 people through the door at Art Amiss tonight (Dickson Theater, 7 p.m.) will get a copy of the compilation, along with a copy of the literary magazine, plus admission to the show for $7.

You can also get one at Smoke & Barrel at the Art Amiss after-party while listening to musical note performances by four artists featured on the compilation: Spencer Hastings, Skinny Quartet, Messy Sparkles, and Memphis Pencils. The show at Smoke & Barrel is free. CD’s are $5.
