Need some compost? Get it while you can.

If you’re in the market for some nutrient-rich, decomposed plant and animal matter, it’s your lucky week.

City officials recently announced that there is an abundance of screened compost available for sale, and as a result, the city’s compost site will have extended hours of operation for a few days this week.

The site at 1708 S. Armstrong Road will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (Nov. 16-18).

The compost is only for Fayetteville residents (bring a recent water bill to prove residency) and costs $20 plus tax per scoop. Each scoop is two cubic yards and weighs approximately 1,000 pounds.

Compost will be sold until the supply is depleted.

If you can’t make it out to the facility this week, you can try your luck on the first Saturday of each month from 8:00 a.m. until noon.
