Flyer Guide: First Thursday – December 2010

Somehow, it’s already time for another First Thursday Fayetteville.

Because of the popularity and support of the monthly event, the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau decided to extend the art walk through December. This time, though, the artists will be set up inside the Fayetteville Town Center on the south side of the square.

22 artists have been selected to participate in the December (indoor) art walk including a few art walk regulars and even some Fayetteville Underground artists.

Unless otherwise noted, all the events listed below begin at 5 p.m.

Fayetteville Underground

Located in the downstairs section of East Square Plaza, Fayetteville Underground will host the opening of Art for the Holidays II.

During the month of December, all four galleries will feature affordable works of original art created by the Fayetteville Underground resident artists, as well many of the visiting artists that have shown in 2009 and 2010. A variety of works will be shown including painting, photography, jewelry, ceramics and custom blown glass.

Hjem Restaurant

Hjem Restaurant is located on the main floor of East Square Plaza, upstairs from Fayetteville Underground.

Tonight, Hjem will host the Art Show to Benefit the Fayetteville Animal Shelter.

The show will feature unique oil paintings, commissioned works of art and personalized pet portraits by artist Julie Koehring Brents.

The display will last through the month of December and 25% of all proceeds will directly benefit the Fayetteville Animal Shelter.

Kathy P. Thompson’s Studio

Located at 3 East Mountain Street just off the square, Kathy P. Thompson’s Studio will host the Third annual SLAAP Happy Holiday Art Sale tonight.

The sale features 15 different local artists, with everything from paintings to handwoven baskets and even some creative food items available for purchase at extremely reasonable prices.

Elsewhere

Matt Miller Studio (on the square) will have new exhibits for December, and just down the street at 108 N. Block Street, Good Things Boutique will host a Holiday Open House with music from Tiffany Christopher.

Finally, at 6:30 p.m., the Fayetteville Public Library will host a live sneak preview of TheatreSquared’s Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some).

Ozarks at Large host Kyle Kellams will conduct an intimate conversation with the cast and director of the holiday comedy which opens December 10. Highlights from the event will be broadcast on KUAF 91.3FM.
