Coming here: Old Crow Medicine Show

You’re going to need some kind of day planner or some other organizational device to make sure not to miss any any of the national acts heading to Fayetteville after the first of the year.

With shows from Robert Randolph, The Old 97’s, Lucero, Bassnectar, Randy Newman, and several others already on the calendar, January and February are shaping up to be insane around these parts.

Now you can add an Old Crow Medicine Show performance at George’s Majestic Lounge on Jan. 21 to your list of shows not to miss.

When the band arrives in town next month, they’ll be fresh off a New Year’s Eve appearance at the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman in Nashville. Over the past year, they performed with John Prine, Mumford & Sons, and Kris Kristopherson at Bonnaroo, hung out with Garrison Keillor on NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion a few times, and released their version of Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery” for the tribute album “Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows: Songs of John Prine.”

Yeah, they’ve been busy.

I missed their last visit to town in Sept. 2009, but I won’t make that mistake again. I did catch them on Dickson St. several years ago with Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, and they were incredible.

Tickets are $25, and are available now at George’s ticketing site.
