We received an few announcements this week concerning some city-run adult sports programs that we thought we’d pass along.
The Yvonne Richardson Community Center is currently taking registrations for its Adult Basketball League and the city’s Parks and Recreation department will soon begin doing the same for its 2011 Spring Adult Softball League.
Also, registering early for the Arctic Classic will save your team $25.

Yvonne Richardson Community Center Adult Basketball League
Registration: Currently open
Registration Ends: Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011
League begins: Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011
Season: 8 games, plus playoffs
Games: Tuesday nights 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m.
Cost: $350 per team
*Registration forms can be picked up at the Yvonne Richardson Community Center, 240 E. Rock Street.
2011 Spring Adult Softball
Fayetteville Parks and Recreation will begin accepting registrations for the 2011 Spring Adult Softball league on Feb. 7 through March 25 or until the city has reached 72 paid teams.
The Arctic Classic
The Arctic Classic Adult Softball Tournament will be held on Feb. 26 at the Gary Hampton Sports complex at 2790 N. Salem Road in Fayetteville.
The entry fee is $190 per team, and if you register early, you can take advantage of a discounted rate of $165. The deadline for early registration is Feb. 16, and the regular registration deadline is Feb. 22.
There are two classifications being offered in this USSSA sanctioned event – an upper (C and D-3 home runs) and a lower (E-home runs are inning ending out). Entry fees and rosters should be mailed to the City of Fayetteville Department of Parks and Recreation, Arctic Classic, 113 West Mountain, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701.
