Ashley Daniels suffers concussion, released from hospital

Arkansas junior women’s basketball forward Ashley Daniels has been released from a hospital in Starkville, Miss. after being treated for a mild concussion she received during a game against Mississippi State on Sunday.

Daniels collided with teammate Sarah Watkins when the two reached for a loose ball with about five minutes left in the game. The players bumped heads and although Watkins seemed unaffected, Daniels collapsed a few moments after the incident.

She left the court on a stretcher and was taken to a hospital. The Razorbacks went on to win the game 61-56.

According to a UA release, Daniels will be re-evaluated when the team returns to Fayetteville.

“We are glad that Ashley is well enough to travel home with the team,” Arkansas head coach Tom Collen said. “Jeremy (Braziel, Arkansas Athletic Trainer) and the Mississippi State medical staff were very helpful and we appreciate their assistance. We also appreciate all the thoughts and prayers from our fans.”

The No. 25 Razorbacks will return to SEC play Thursday when they host Georgia at Bud Walton Arena.
