Fayetteville received a light dusting of snow early Monday morning which city staff says was enough to create poor road conditions on side streets and hilly areas. Fayetteville Public Schools were also closed for the day.

According to a release issued Monday afternoon, the city’s Solid Waste and Recycling Division has suspended all residential trash, recycling and yardwaste collections “due to the poor road conditions on side streets and hilly areas.”

Residents, however, are encouraged to leave their trash carts and recycling bins at the curb until the city can empty them.

“There will be limited emergency commercial collection, but the majority of commercial routes have been suspended for Monday, January 10th as well,” said Waste Reduction Coordinator Brian Pugh in the release.

Pugh said pick-ups will resume when road conditions improve.
