On Jan. 20, the marquee at George’s Majestic Lounge on Dickson Street will have the following letters on it, probably in this order: “Robert Randolph & The Family Band.”
That makes sense, since Mr. Randolph and family will indeed be providing the entertainment that evening at George’s, but if the marquee makers were feeling frisky, they could arrange the letters to read “Serious freaking dance party inside tonight. Bring your dancing shoes, and if you enter these doors, get ready to shake your butt for the next several hours ’cause that’s what’s about to happen,” and they wouldn’t be lying.
That probably wouldn’t fit on the sign, though.
I’ve never seen them perform, but all indications around the internets are that Robert Randolph & The Family Band bring it live, and they expect the same from the audience.
In other words, if you are one of the two lucky winners of a pair of tickets to this show, you can expect to get some exercise next week. Get ready.
How to enter
Some performers just have “it.” I don’t know what “it” is, but I know it when I see it, and the best shows I’ve ever seen always have that one person on stage that you can’t help but stare at the entire time, to see what they’re going to do next. Robert Randolph has it.

Two winners selected at random will receive two tickets each to the Jan. 20 Robert Randolph & The Family Band show at George’s Majestic Lounge.

- Contest is open until 12:00 p.m. CST on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011.
Make sure you leave a valid e-mail address when filling out the comment form since that’s how we’ll contact you if you’ve won, and make sure you check your email when the contest has ended. You’ll have 24 hours to claim the tickets once we’ve notified the winners before we pass them on to someone else. - You’ll have to provide us with your first and last name (if you win) and then be prepared to show a valid photo ID when picking up your tickets.
