A banner reveals that a Waffle House will soon be opening inside Underwood Plaza at 609 W. Dickson Street in Fayetteville.

The rumors are true.

A banner hanging in a window at Underwood Plaza today reveals that a Waffle House is indeed coming to Dickson Street.

The 24-hour eatery will be the first to occupy the street-side suite, located right next door to Orange Leaf Yogurt.

Now Hiring

Manager David Nall is excited to open what the location’s Facebook page refers to as “One of the most unique Waffle House locations in the country.”

“Typically, our stores are in stand alone buildings, and located more closely to highways and interstates,” Nall told us Wednesday afternoon. “This is expected to be a location where our late-night business exceeds what our morning business brings.”

Nall said he won’t be able to step too far away from the typical Waffle House theme, but he does plan to incorporate some Razorback red into the color scheme, seeing as the restaurant is only a few steps from the University of Arkansas campus.

With the recent closings of El Sancho and Sunrise Cafe just around the corner, Waffle House won’t have much competition in the late-night, sit-down meal experience on Dickson Street.

Nall said he hopes to hire 25 to 30 local residents within the next couple of weeks to begin training immediately. The store is set to open in mid-February.

According to the ‘Now Hiring’ sign posted on the front door, anyone wishing to apply should do so between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays inside the south Fayetteville Waffle House location at 2311 Martin Luther King Blvd.
