Snow hits Fayetteville

Snow falls early Thursday morning in front of the Fayetteville Public Library. The library, along with City Hall, is closed for the day.

For a moment this morning, it seemed as though the snow was finished for the day. Wrong.

As of 9 a.m., it’s still coming down and if the forecasts are current, the powder will continue to fall until early this afternoon.

Fayetteville schools are closed, as are all athletic events including junior high basketball games and the FHS wrestling matches.

Mayor Jordan announced that City Hall and all non-essential services (trash collection included) are closed for the day.

We’re hearing scanner reports that the University of Arkansas could be closing as early as 9:30 a.m. Update: Yep, the UA is closing all offices and classes at 9:30 a.m.

Update: Make sure to check the Flyer Wire for a list of places that are closed (and open) today.

How is your day going so far?
