Local bands battle for a chance to play Wakarusa at Waka Winter Classic

In just a few short months, it will be hotter than hades, and some of you guys (along with about 20,000 of your closest friends) will be hanging out with My Morning Jacket, Mumford & Sons, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, and the rest of these bands on Mulberry Mountain at Wakarusa 2011.

On Wednesday, Feb. 2, five local bands will battle it out at the annual Waka Winter Classic at George’s Majestic Lounge for a chance to join the party, and play for at least a portion of the thousands of folks in attendance.

Their fate is in your hands.

Locals Shulertown, Where’s Lawrence?, Fuggins Wheat, Groovement, and The Great Scotts will be competing this year, and whichever band gets the most votes from fans in attendance will secure the coveted spot on a Wakarusa stage.

There can be only one winner. There can only be four losers, and one or two of the above bands might not come out of it alive (not really).

Admission is $5 at the door, and the schedule of performances is below. Who should win?
