Wednesday To-do: Feb. 2

  • By Todd Gill · Wednesday, Feb 2, 2011

Today looks to be a repeat of yesterday when it comes to finding something to do. How fitting, considering it’s Groundhog Day.

Lots of places are closed, and even though some of our calendar items aren’t crossed out, we still suggest calling the venues before you brave the weather.

If it’s a bite to eat you’re looking for, make sure to check the Flyer Wire. We’ve posted info on which businesses are open, and the list is being updated as we receive tips.

Once again, the Walton Arts Center has postponed all performances for the evening. Don’t fret, Ron White fans. His performances have been rescheduled for May 25-26.

Greenhouse Grill is also closed, which means no Kevin Baker performance tonight.

All non-essential city services and public meetings have been cancelled, including the Mayor’s Town Hall Meeting which was set for 4 p.m. on the UA campus.

The Waka Winter Classic is still set to begin at 8 p.m. inside George’s Majestic Lounge. Local band Shulertown, Where’s Lawrence?, Fuggins Wheat, Groovement, and The Great Scotts will battle it out for a chance to play at this year’s Wakarusa music festival.

Also still on for tonight is the Arkansas-Georgia basketball game at Bud Walton Arena. Tip-off is at 8 p.m. Update: The game will be televised, but not until 10 p.m. on Cox channel 119.

We’ll update our list as we hear more.

The list

Greenhouse Grille: Kevin Baker
JJ’s Grill n Chill: David Johnson
Walton Arts Center: Ron White: Behavioral Problems Tour
Mojo’s Pints & Pies: Johny Arrendondo & Friends
George’s Majestic Lounge: Waka Winter Classic
Smoke & Barrel Tavern: Urban Achievers Wii Bowling Night
Common Grounds: Jr. Soapbox

Sports

Men’s Basketball: Arkansas vs. Georgia – Fayetteville – 8:00 p.m. (CSS TV)

Public Meetings

All public meetings including the Mayor’s Town Hall Meeting have been cancelled.
