City announces limited Saturday trash pickup

Officials today announced that the city’s Solid Waste and Recycling Division will run limited residential trash pickup on Saturday, Feb. 12.

The following subdivisions are included in the Saturday route: Indian Springs, Barrington, Covington Park, and River Meadows.

The city chose these subdivisions because of their improved road conditions, the width of the streets, and their flat terrain.

All residential routes will resume pickup on their normal schedules next week.

After normally scheduled Monday and Tuesday routes are picked up, portions of Thursday and Wednesday routes will be run in an effort to help catch up these areas. Cart service and recycling for Wednesday and Thursday routes will run on their normal days.

Commercial stops on the cleared main roads will be run on Saturday if the dumpsters can be accessed. Dumpsters will not be collected if there is snow piled in front of them or if they are in hilly or shaded areas which are too slick for the trucks to access.

City officials are requesting that any overflow of bagged trash be placed to the side of the dumpster rather than in front of the dumpster.

Due to the increased trash collection required, there will be no yard waste collection from February 7 to February 20.
