Walton Arts Center announces the purchase of The AMP

Northwest Arkansas (February 18, 2011) – Walton Arts Center has purchased of The AMP at the Northwest Arkansas Mall (The AMP). On December 1, 2010 Walton Arts Center’s Board of Directors approved the recommendation to pursue an expansion, which included the purchase of The AMP. Walton Arts Center and Brian Crowne, owner of George’s Majestic Presents and The AMP at the Northwest Arkansas Mall, have collaborated on several shows over the past year, including Tower of Power, The Indigo Girls and Chris Isaak. In this new relationship, Brian Crowne will serve as the General Manager of The AMP and continue to manage all aspects of the venue.

President and CEO of Walton Arts Center, Peter Lane says, “this is a very exciting time for Walton Arts Center. The purchase of the AMP allows us to make entertainment more accessible to people in Northwest Arkansas. We look forward to providing great programming for the entire region.”

Brian Crowne, GM says “The AMP will continue to program diverse and mainstream artists that music lovers have come to expect and enjoy. Under the new agreement, I will work with Walton Arts Center to expand programming and promote concerts. Our combined experience in the entertainment industry and additional resources allows us to better serve our patrons.”

New shows scheduled for The AMP include:

Pretty Lights is the musical vision of the ultra-versatile Colorado-based producer Derek Vincent Smith, accompanied in the live setting by drummer, Adam Deitch. Together these two achieve a raw energy rarely reached in the realm of electronic music. Pretty Lights will perform at The AMP on Saturday, April 22. Gates open at 6:30pm with a 7:00pm show time. Tickets went on sale today, Friday, February 18 at 9am and are $27 for general admission. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Walton Arts Center Box Office at 479.443.5600 or by visiting waltonartscenter.org.
