Deadline for spring A&P funding requests is Friday, April 1

Anyone wanting funding help from the Fayetteville Advertising & Promotion Commission for an event in the second half of 2011 has about 10 days to submit a request.

The deadline for fall funding is Friday, April 1, 2011.

Twice each year, the commission reviews applications for amounts larger than $2,000. Applicants who are approved, receive “seed money” for their event. The money comes from half of the revenue generated by the two percent Hotel-Motel-Restaurant (HMR) tax.

The city’s parks department receives the other half.

Last November, the commission awarded $222,176 to help fund 35 separate projects during its regular fall funding distribution.

With less sales tax money to work with in the spring, however, the distribution totals from April requests are usually smaller. Only $149,292 was released during the spring of 2010.

The spring funding requests will be available for the commissioners to review at the regular April A&P meeting. The commission will meet in May to discuss and vote on the final distribution amounts.
