Smokin Hog B-B-Q opened this week at the northwest corner of North College Avenue and Sycamore Street in Fayetteville.

If you’ve ventured down North College Avenue in the past few months, you might have noticed that the old Long John Silver’s restaurant at the corner of Sycamore Street has a fresh coat of red paint, and that a large meat smoker has been installed behind the building.

Today we found out why.

A sign for the new Smokin Hog BBQ went up yesterday, and as of today, they’re officially open for business.

The restaurant serves what owner Kirby Freeman called “non-traditional bbq.”

“We don’t smoke any brisket here,” he said. “Our beef is a beef shoulder. We do a good pork loin, and we have good ribs.”

The menu includes sliced beef sandwiches, pork loin sandwiches, hot links, “Daddy back” ribs, burgers, salads, and more.

Smokin Hog B-B-Q is located at 1705 North College Avenue and is open 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
