Additional shows to be announced for 2011 AMP season

The new season of the Arkansas Music Pavilion kicks off this Friday, April 22 when Colorado-based Pretty Lights returns to Fayetteville.

Only five other shows have been announced for the 2011 season, but that will change this week when Walton Arts Center and AMP officials unveil the names of additional artists headed our way.

According to a news release issued Monday, the announcement will take place Wednesday, April 20 at George’s Majestic Lounge.

“We are excited to announce additions to the 2011 AMP season and begin planning for the future,” said AMP General Manager Brian Crowne in the release. “Since Walton Arts Center purchased The AMP in February, we have worked really hard to diversify the music and entertainment in Northwest Arkansas, bringing rock, country, electronic, folk and now comedy to the AMP.”

Comedy is likely the key word, at least for one of the unannounced shows.

The latest RSS feed from Pollstar lists country-flavored comedian and songwriter Rodney Carrington at the AMP on July 1. Carrington’s website does, too.
