Indianapolis’ major-turned-indie rockers Margot and the Nuclear So-and-So’s are set to headline a free show on Tuesday, May 3 at the Greek Theater on the University of Arkansas campus.

The event, hosted by University Programs, will begin at 9 p.m. (“doors” at 8 p.m.) and locals Rough Draftz will open.

The group’s most recent release, Happy hour at Spriggs, is an EP full of acoustic tracks pulled from 2010’s self-released Buzzard full-length.

The group hasn’t always been so free to do as they please with their recordings.

According to indie folklore, the band had a spat with Epic records execs over the release of 2008’s Animal!. With two completely different ideas about what the group’s major label debut should sound like, a compromise was necessary which resulted in two versions of the album being simultaneously released as Animal! (the band’s version) and Not Animal (the label’s version).

Recording history aside, Margot and the Nuclear So-and-So’s sound great live and as long as the weather holds, this will be a fun show. Did we mention it’s free?
