Chipotle on Dickson Street to open May 10

Let the burrito war begin.

A banner announcing the grand opening of a Chipotle Mexican Grill at 550 W. Dickson Street in Fayetteville was unveiled Monday morning. The date: May 10.

Chipotle will occupy the train depot building across from George’s Majestic Lounge. Also within earshot: Qdoba Mexican Grill at 603 W. Dickson Street and one of Fayetteville’s three Flying Burrito Company locations at 509 W. Spring Street.

According to Chipotle Communications Director Chris Arnold, the Dickson Street location will open at 11 a.m. Tuesday and will assume normal operating hours which are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

The restaurant chain, which celebrated the opening of its 1000th restaurant in June 2010, recently announced a first quarter 2011 revenue total of $509.4 million, a 24.3% increase from the prior year period. During the quarter, Chipotle opened 12 new restaurants, bringing the total restaurant count to 1,095.

The company expects to open 135-145 new restaurants in 2011.
