Following the tragic death of Northwest Arkansas actor Sean Phillip Mabrey, TheatreSquared, Dan’s Party, and Phunbags Comedy Improv announced on Tuesday that all of the proceeds from the Improv Showcase during T2’s New Play Festival on Saturday night will benefit Mabrey’s family.

The showcase features comedy improv by Dan’s Party and Phunbags Comedy Improv, as well as music by Black and Tan. It is scheduled for 9 p.m. on Saturday night at Nadine Baum Studios.

Mabrey, who was extremely active in several local theatre organizations, was killed in a car crash early Sunday morning in Fayetteville.

He was one of the founders of local improv troupe Dan’s Party, appeared in T2’s 2010 Arkansas New Play Fest, as well as T2’s the recent production of Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some).

Mabrey was also heavily involved in Artist Laboratory Theatre, and was scheduled to perform a staged reading of The Poe Show during this weekend’s New Play Fest.

T2 officials have cancelled the Saturday, May 21 staged reading performance of The Poe Show, and ticket holders will be offered an exchange into any New Play Fest event.

Tickets to the Improv Showcase are $10, and are available at waltonartscenter.org, or by contacting the Walton Arts Center Box Office at 479-443-5600. 100% of the ticket sales will be donated to the Mabrey family.
