Ozark Couture: Nature as Muse fashion show set for May 20

What do you get when you combine seven local fashion designers, seven local poets, and several local models all working together to put on a wearable art show set to the music of the Artosphere Symphony Orchestra?

It’s not a riddle. It’s the Ozark Couture: Nature as Muse show, scheduled for Friday, May 20 at the Walton Arts Center.

Local designers Brook Benham, Caylan Hudgens, Cynthia Parker, Kata Mari, Leslie Pennel, Mark Hughes and Rosie Rose will each share five looks on the runway, and poets Clayton Scott, Kate Brown, Adam Douglas, Julie Jeannene, Cat Fury, Doug Sheilds and Ginny Masulo will read from their work during the event.

The show will also feature jewelry by Kate Baer Fossils, and hair and makeup by Sunshine Broder of Shine Salon.

The event is part of Walton Arts Center’s Artosphere festival, and the fashion show and poetry will follow the festival theme, “Nature as Muse.”

If the weather holds up, the event will take place in the Rosen Memorial Rose Garden outside the Walton Arts Center. If it rains, the festivities will take place inside the WAC lobby.

On Saturday, May 21, items from the fashion show will be for sale at a trunk show at Studio Lelani from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Ozark Couture: Nature as Muse show starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, and is free to attend.
