City Council Primer: July 5, 2011

A meeting of the Fayetteville City Council will be held on July 5, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in room 219 of the City Administration Building located at 113 West Mountain Street in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Tonight’s agenda includes three directors appointments to the Walton Arts Center Foundation by Mayor Lioneld Jordan and the University of Arkansas Chancellor David Gearhart. The appointments are subject to the approval of the City Council and the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas.

There are nine consent items including a budget adjustment to recognize $4,880 in donations from area businesses, banks and citizens to the Fayetteville Police Department. According to a staff memo, the donations are for recognizing personnel and/or support the city’s officer service awards program.

There are six unfinished business items including resolutions approving and adopting City Plan 2030, a revised Master Street Plan, and several property rezonings.

Finally, there are four new business items including a resolution to request that Mayor Jordan have city staff examine city building codes and recommend amendments to further promote sustainable practices and energy conservation for City Council consideration.
