Fayetteville city staff are developing plans for a fall tree planting project and are inviting residents to participate in a discussion concerning the plantings at the next regularly-scheduled Tree and Landscape Advisory Committee meeting.

The meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 inside room 111 of Fayetteville City Hall, 113 W. Mountain St.

The project is funded by the city’s tree escrow account and utilizes funds contributed to the account by developers so that trees could be planted after the infrastructure was completed.

Over the next few months, city staff will advertise for bids to hire a contractor to plant the trees which are expected to be planted between early October 1st and mid-December 2011.

Contractors will install two-inch caliper trees in the rights-of-way along streets in several neighborhoods around the city. The contractor will maintain the trees for 90 days after planting. Afterwards, maintenance will be the responsibility of the City of Fayetteville.

Anyone who is unable to attend the public meeting, but would like to provide comments, should email [email protected], call 444-3471, or send a letter to 113 W. Mountain St. Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701.
