Coming here: CJ Ramone, July 21 at George’s

It’s not very often that a member of the Ramones makes a stop in Fayetteville. In fact, it almost never happens.

Marky Ramone was in town for a show at Clunk Music Hall sometime in the early 2000s, but I can’t remember any other members of the band coming here for any reason since then.

That will change later this month, however, when former bassplayer CJ Ramone, makes a stop at George’s on July 21.

CJ replaced Dee Dee Ramone on bass in 1989, and remained with the band until their retirement in 1996. After the Ramones disbanded, CJ formed a band called Los Gusanos, and later another band called Bad Chopper before embarking on his current solo tour.

CJ will be joined on stage by legendary Ramones producer Daniel Rey (guitar), and the band will perform a 30-song set of Ramones songs.

Tickets are on sale for $13 ($16.20 including fees) at George’s ticketing site.
