Hog football practice to begin Aug. 4, and more signs the 2011 season is close at hand

Serious football junkies are just about as deprived of their pigskin-addiction right now as they can possibly be, but don’t freak out, Hog fans. Relief is just around the corner.

Here are some dates to hold you over between now and the 2011 season kickoff versus Missouri State on Sept. 3. For those not already counting, that’s 53 days from now.

SEC Media Days should generate a fair amount of football talk, and they are coming up July 20 through 22 (which is only 9 days away). The SEC announced the interview schedule on Monday, and Razorback players Knile Davis, Jarius Wright, Tenarius Wright, and Coach Bobby Petrino will speak first among the 12 SEC teams to face the media on the opening day of the three-day event.

The Hogs will report for fall practice on Aug. 4 this year. If you’re keeping score at home, that’s 23 days from today.

Also, UA Athletics announced that the fall football luncheon, featuring coach Bobby Petrino, Athletic Director Jeff Long, and the entire team, will take place at noon on Friday, Aug. 19, at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers. That’s 38 days from today.

If none of that is enough to make the pangs of gridiron-withdrawal go away, you could watch the video below, which includes plenty of footage of Tyler Wilson tearing up the Auburn secondary in 2010.

It will get you pumped. We’re almost there, Hog fans.
