Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Richard Simmons. Happy birthday to you.
In honor of Richard Simmons’ 63rd birthday candle blowout, we’re adding a Happy Birthday section to the daily to-do post starting today.
Not just far away famous folks, though. Local famous folks are getting props, too. Famous as in, you let us know who to say happy birthday to and we’ll add them to the post. Hey, if you’ve got friends, you’re famous as far as we’re concerned. And you can sit right there with Richard Simmons, Kristi Yamaguchi, Bill Cosby and the rest of ’em.
Tonight
There’s a double header of partyness at Rogue this evening. To start things off, the Ozark Poetry Slam’s monthly event will be the annual Cover Slam, the only slam of the year where you must compete with poetry that you didn’t write. Cool stuff. Plus, the featured group this month is our OPS home team. They’re currently raising money to travel to Boston to represent all of Arkansas at the National Poetry Slam competition and will have books, CDs and more for sale.
Later on, OLIVE takes over with DJs Ultrasonic Nozzle, Spiff and Bizar. Word on the street is that a special Aphex Twin/Beatles tribute is in the works.
What else? Live jazz at Teatro Scarpino Stitch & Bitch at Common Grounds, and a handful of live music options around town.
Happy Birthday!
