Updated: Lane closure on West Persimmon Street

Storm debris and flash flooding left several roads and bridges impassable in April, including West Persimmon Street near the West Side Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Update (3:30 p.m. July 22): We just heard from city officials who said that temporary repairs have been made and both lanes are now open. This section of road, however, will still be closed to all truck traffic until permanent repairs can be made and box culverts can be replaced.

The Transportation Division issued a statement Thursday indicating that the eastbound lane of West Persimmon Street between North Broyles Avenue and 54th Avenue has been closed. According to the release, the bridge culvert has failed, likely from damage received during the April 2011 floods.

The entire section of road will be closed to all truck traffic until repairs have been completed.

From the release:

This project will be completed and lanes re-opened for two-way traffic as soon as possible.
